Adult Ministries
The Adults Ministry at Sola Bible Church exists to come alongside the adult members of our congregation to shepherd them in God's Word, equip them for every good work, call them to ongoing obedience and personal holiness, train them to make disciples, and to challenge them to walk faithfully with Christ in every season of life — using their unique giftedness in service to His Church and His kingdom.
The following principles drive this ministry:
Commitment to the truth of God's Word as the sole foundation for life, doctrine, and practice (2 Tim 3:16-17)
Proclamation of Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 2:1-2), with the goal of seeing every adult brought to salvation if not yet in Christ, and to full maturity in their faith if they are (Col 1:28-29)
The Adults Ministry seeks to pursue the programs for Christ's Church as prescribed clearly in His Word in the following ways:
Worship — gathering to exalt God in spirit and in truth (Jn 4:24)
Fellowship — spurring one another on toward love and good deeds (Heb 10:24-25)
Ministry — serving one another earnestly with the gifts God has given (1 Pet 4:8)
Teaching — sitting under the faithful exposition of God's Word for growth and maturity (Eph 4:11)
Discipleship and evangelism — going and making disciples, beginning in our own community (Matt 28:19-20, Acts 1:8)
Methods of ministry are rooted and grounded in the truth of God's Word, and are as follows:
Communicating and upholding high standards of Christian conduct in all areas of life
The constant call to watch both life and doctrine closely (1 Tim 4:16)
Use of God's Word as the sole basis for all teaching and curriculum
Emphasis on the real needs of the soul rather than the felt needs of the moment
Intentional discipleship relationships between spiritually mature and growing believers
Encouragement of meaningful fellowship and accountability within the body
Equipping adults to serve the church and engage the community with the gospel
The ministry can be evaluated by the clear demonstration of:
Enduring faithfulness in the Christian walk (Matt 24:13)
Ever-increasing conformity to the image of Christ (Eph 4:13)
Imitating elders as they imitate Christ (1 Cor 11:1)
Growing in personal holiness and love for God's Word (2 Pet 3:18)
