Legacy Fellowship
The Legacy Fellowship at Sola Bible Church exists to come alongside the men and women of our congregation aged 60 and above to shepherd them in God's Word, honor the wisdom and faithfulness they carry, call them to continued growth and personal holiness in every remaining season of life, equip them to invest their legacy in the generations coming behind them, and to challenge them to finish well — walking faithfully with Christ to the end and serving Him with all the strength and giftedness He has provided.
The following principles drive this ministry:
- Commitment to the truth of God's Word as the sole foundation for how we age, how we serve, and how we finish the race set before us (2 Tim 3:16-17)
- Proclamation of Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 2:1-2), with the goal of seeing every member of Legacy Fellowship continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, and leave a lasting gospel legacy in the lives of those they invest in (Col 1:28-29)
The Legacy Fellowship seeks to pursue the programs for Christ's Church as prescribed clearly in His Word in the following ways:
- Worship — gathering to exalt the God who has been faithful across every decade of life (Jn 4:24)
- Fellowship — cultivating deep, gospel-centered community among those who have walked longest with Christ (Heb 10:24-25)
- Ministry — deploying the wisdom, experience, and giftedness of seasoned saints in meaningful service to the body (1 Pet 4:8)
- Teaching — continuing to sit under and engage with the faithful exposition of God's Word for ongoing growth and renewal (Eph 4:11)
- Discipleship and evangelism — fulfilling the Titus 2 mandate by investing in younger generations and remaining bold witnesses to the gospel (Titus 2:1-5, Matt 28:19-20)
Methods of ministry are rooted and grounded in the truth of God's Word, and are as follows:
- Honoring and utilizing the wisdom of those who have walked with Christ for decades as a treasured resource within the body
- Upholding high standards of godly character and conduct befitting those who have been shaped by a lifetime of faithfulness
- Use of God's Word as the sole basis for all teaching, fellowship, and life direction
- Emphasis on finishing well — guarding doctrine, maintaining integrity, and pressing on in holiness to the end
- Intentional investment in younger members of the congregation through mentorship, prayer, and the passing down of biblical wisdom
- Providing meaningful opportunities for fellowship, service, and continued contribution to the life of the church
- Encouraging members to steward their remaining years, resources, and influence for the maximum glory of God and the good of His Church
The ministry can be evaluated by the clear demonstration of:
- A legacy of enduring faithfulness that younger generations can look to and imitate (Matt 24:13)
- Continued conformity to the image of Christ that deepens rather than stagnates with age (Eph 4:13)
- Active investment in the lives of younger believers through the Titus 2 pattern (Titus 2:1-5)
- Fostering an environment of gratitude, perseverance, and joyful anticipation of the glory that awaits (2 Pet 3:18, Phil 1:21)
