Benevolence Ministry

The Benevolence Ministry at Sola Bible Church exists to come alongside those in need — both within the congregation and the broader community — to demonstrate the love of Christ through tangible, compassionate care, meet practical needs in a manner that honors God and preserves dignity, point every person served to the hope of the gospel, and to reflect the character of Christ who came not to be served but to serve.

The following principles drive this ministry:

- Commitment to the truth of God's Word as the sole foundation for how we define, assess, and meet genuine need (2 Tim 3:16-17)

- Proclamation of Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 2:1-2), with the goal of seeing every person served come to know the hope of the gospel, and every believer strengthened in their faith through the ministry of the body.

The Benevolence Ministry seeks to pursue the programs for Christ's Church as prescribed clearly in His Word in the following ways:

- Worship — recognizing that all service flows from a heart surrendered to God (Rom 12:1)

- Fellowship — bearing one another's burdens as members of the same body (Gal 6:2)

- Ministry — serving one another and the community with the strength God supplies (1 Pet 4:11)

- Teaching — grounding all care in the truth of Scripture rather than the wisdom of the world (Col 3:16)

- Discipleship and evangelism — using every opportunity of service as an open door to share the gospel (Matt 28:19-20, Acts 1:8)

Methods of ministry are rooted and grounded in the truth of God's Word, and are as follows:

- Assessing need through a biblical lens, distinguishing between genuine need and enabling dependency

- Maintaining confidentiality and dignity in all matters of care - Partnering with church leadership to ensure all assistance aligns with the church's values and resources

- Coordinating with outside organizations when needs exceed what the church can meet internally

- Keeping the gospel central in every act of service so that physical care always points to spiritual hope

The ministry can be evaluated by the clear demonstration of:

- Consistent, Christlike compassion extended to those inside and outside the congregation (Gal 6:10)

- Gospel conversations initiated and faithfully pursued in the context of care (1 Pet 3:15)

- Growing generosity and servant-heartedness among the congregation (2 Cor 9:6-8)

- Lives changed not merely by resources received but by the truth of Christ proclaimed (Rom 1:16)
