Children's Ministry

The Children's Ministry at Sola Bible Church exists to come alongside the parents of our children to help, partner with, and shepherd their children in God's Word, lay a faithful gospel foundation in the hearts of the next generation, call them to personal faith in Christ and obedience to His Word, and to train them to know what they believe, why they believe it, and how to live it out — for the glory of God and the good of His Church.

The following principles drive this ministry:

  • - Commitment to the truth of God's Word as the sole foundation for all teaching, training, and formation of children (2 Tim 3:16-17)

  • - Proclamation of Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 2:1-2), with the goal of seeing every child come to genuine saving faith, and grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ (Col 1:28-29)

The Children's Ministry seeks to pursue the programs for Christ's Church as prescribed clearly in His Word in the following ways:

  • - Worship — teaching children to honor and revere God from their youngest years (Jn 4:24)

  • - Fellowship — building a community of children who encourage and love one another in Christ (Heb 10:24-25)

  • - Ministry — instilling in children a servant's heart and a desire to use their gifts for God's glory (1 Pet 4:8)

  • - Teaching — faithfully and creatively communicating the whole counsel of God's Word at every age level (Eph 4:11)

  • - Discipleship and evangelism — training children to know the gospel and share it with their generation (Matt 28:19-20, Acts 1:8)

Methods of ministry are rooted and grounded in the truth of God's Word, and are as follows:

  • - Partnering closely with parents as the primary disciplers of their children (Deut 6:6-7)

  • - Communicating and upholding age-appropriate standards of conduct rooted in biblical truth

  • - Use of God's Word as the sole basis for all curriculum and teaching

  • - Emphasis on Scripture memory, gospel literacy, and practical application of biblical truth

  • - Fostering an environment that is safe, joyful, and rich in the knowledge of God

  • - Equipping children to ask questions, wrestle with truth, and grow in genuine faith

  • - Regular communication with parents to reinforce what is taught on Sunday throughout the week

The ministry can be evaluated by the clear demonstration of:

  • - Children who know the Scriptures and can articulate the gospel with clarity (2 Tim 3:15)

  • - Evidence of genuine faith and growing personal holiness in the lives of the children (Matt 24:13)

  • - Strong partnership between the ministry and the parents of the congregation (Deut 6:6-7)

  • - An environment of joy, reverence, and love for God's Word among the children (Ps 119:11)
